Batik Design
BATIK PATTERN
by Vanissa Patalinghug
The word batik is thought to be derived from the word 'ambatik' which translated means 'a cloth with little dots'. The suffix 'tik' means little dot, drop, point or to make dots. Batik may also originate from the Javanese word 'tritik' which describes a resist process for dying where the patterns are reserved on the textiles by tying and sewing areas prior to dying, similar to tie dye techniques. Another Javanese phase for the mystical experience of making batik is “mbatik manah” which means “drawing a batik design on the heart”.
Here I am drawing a batik pattern on a paper.
Process
1. draw a margin (my margin is 1/2)
2. give a space to the side 1 inch and from the bottom line mark it 2 inches.
3. Draw lines vertically and horizontally with 1/2 inch basis
4. Draw circles on the boxes that you have created from the 3rd step. The first clip shows how it should look.
5. Draw oval like circles from each corner to the center and make sure the center has a small circle.
6. draw triangles on every side of the box where you drew the ovals, make sure to leave a space. Draw a little oval inside the big oval. Time stamped 43 seconds shows how it should look like
7. Choose a color of your choice to put into the ovals. I chose red to be the color of the ovals, brown for the inside circles, and grey for the lines and spaces.
8. Color the parts that needs to be colored.
9. Be creative and put some other colors if you want and then you are done.
